Welcome to ISKCON Kamareddy — a sacred space where the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam come alive. Nestled in the heart of Kamareddy, Telangana, our temple is an oasis of divine love, spiritual knowledge and Vaishnava culture for all seekers.
Founded in the mission of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, we invite every soul to experience the transformative beauty of Krishna consciousness through kirtan, prasadam, philosophy and community.
The Movement
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness — popularly known as the Hare Krishna Movement — was founded in New York City in July 1966 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Today it is a worldwide community of temples, ashrams, schools, farm communities and cultural centres, and ISKCON Kamareddy is one small branch of that great tree.
ISKCON belongs to the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, a devotional school rooted in the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam and carried forward by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who appeared in Bengal in 1486.
From a storefront on New York's Second Avenue, the movement has grown into hundreds of temples and centres across every continent, united by the chanting of the holy names of Krishna.
Krishna consciousness is not reserved for any one background. Students, families, elders and seekers of every kind are welcome to chant, hear, serve and honour prasadam with us.
Founder-Acharya
Born Abhay Charan De in Calcutta in 1896, Srila Prabhupada met his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, in 1922. At that first meeting he was asked to carry the message of Lord Chaitanya to the English-speaking world — an instruction he would spend the rest of his life fulfilling.
In 1965, at the age of sixty-nine, he boarded the cargo ship Jaladuta for America with little more than a trunk of his own translations. Within a year he had founded ISKCON. In the twelve years that followed he circled the globe many times over, established temples on every continent, and wrote and translated more than seventy volumes of Vedic literature — including Bhagavad-gita As It Is — which are read today in dozens of languages.
Our Foundation
Set down by Srila Prabhupada when the Society was incorporated in 1966, these seven aims still guide every ISKCON temple in the world — including ours.
To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge and to educate all people in the techniques of spiritual life, in order to restore balance to human values and achieve real unity and peace in the world.
To propagate a consciousness of Krishna as it is revealed in the great scriptures of India — the Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam.
To bring members of the Society closer to one another and nearer to Krishna, so that all may realise that every soul is part and parcel of the Supreme.
To teach and encourage the sankirtana movement — the congregational chanting of the holy names of God, as revealed by Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
To erect, for members and for society at large, a holy place dedicated to the transcendental pastimes of the Personality of Godhead.
To bring members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler and more natural way of life.
And, for the fulfilment of the above purposes, to publish and distribute periodicals, magazines, books and other writings.

Every Sunday · 10:00 AM to 2:00 PMA daily reading and discussion of the Bhagavatam at the temple — the ripened fruit of Vedic literature, explained simply and practically.
Congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra — the heart of our tradition, and the simplest path to a peaceful mind.
Food first offered to Krishna and then shared freely. No one leaves the temple hungry — prasadam is served to every guest.
Every appearance day and Vaishnava festival is observed with abhisheka, decoration, kirtan and a grand feast for the whole community.

These sixteen names are the sound of the Lord Himself. Chanted aloud or softly on beads, alone or together, the maha-mantra cleanses the heart of anxiety and awakens our natural love for God. There is no rule of time or place — anyone, anywhere, may begin today.
